AboutRoyal City Mission's outreach program provides supports to our community - from relational support, to connecting with downtown businesses, to providing life-changing programs like Clean Streets, to connecting people to services, to offering spiritual direction. An invaluable aspect of what we do, outreach expands beyond our walls and works to meet our community's needs.
|
Clean Streets (Currently Not Running)
Our micro-cleaning program, Clean Streets, provides life & employment skills for local community, builds self-reliance, and promotes healthy & vibrant public spaces by reducing trash in our downtown core. |
Resourcing Downtown Businesses
Often, downtown businesses are under-resourced on how to interact with people who are visibly homeless. Our outreach team connects with downtown businesses to better understand our homeless community. |
Services Navigation
There is a myriad of resources and services that are being offered in Guelph. Knowing where to start or who to contact, can often times be daunting. Our outreach team connects people to the services that might best meet their needs. |
Spiritual Care
Our staff meet people where they are at - many times we are called when crisis or tragedy strikes. Often, when times are the darkest, our staff is there providing care - whether that be listening, offering spiritual care, or simply being present. |
Spiritual Direction
Did you know that we have a trained spiritual director on staff? If you're looking at how to deepen your prayer life, have found that your soul has been feeling empty, or if you're curious about how to pray differently, please reach out to set up a time to meet. |
Royal City Mission identifies & connects people to our Outreach & Clean Streets programs.
|
Starting off small, each person is coached on how to complete a Clean Streets shift - with the goal to eventually become part of the Clean Streets’ regular rotation schedule.
|
When on the schedule, Clean Street participants are in contact with an RCM outreach worker who builds into each persons’ sense of worth, how to meet expectations, & fulfill their responsibilities.
|
With an honorarium built into each shift, the Clean Streets participant also experiences the value of work & the dignity of a job well done.
|
While walking their route, program participants sweep, pick up litter and trash, dispose of needles responsibly, and help make downtown a better & safer place for all.
