Tithes & Offerings During the Pandemic

The impact of COVID-19 to our Sunday gatherings has made tithing and submitting offerings a challenge for those who have normally done so using the collection plate.  Consequently, it is becoming more difficult for RCM to cover expenses, much of which have shifted to the cause of helping provide essential services (food, food prep, food delivery) to those in our community who struggle to find food and help--the very community we engage with through God’s blessing. ​

​While leadership is working on a strategy to reduce expenses and leverage any relief available at government levels, we (the board) must also appeal to you, our community, to maintain giving until we are able to reunite in gatherings again.  Whether you have been blessed with abundance or are led to give like the widow in Mark 12, there are safe ways to continue your tithes and offerings - digitally. These ways are explained below. Please consider which of these methods would be easiest for you. 

                                   Ways to Give

1.  By E-transfer (PREFERRED)
This is our preferred method right now because no paper is involved and because this method allows you to set up recurring payments. You receive a tax receipt from RCM at the end of the year that includes E-transfer payments as well as any regular giving you have made.
STEPS:
1. Log into your banking website or app.
2. Select to perform an e-transfer.
   If you aren’t sure how to do this, search for e-transfer using the     
   search tool in your banking website or app.
3. For the email address to transfer funds to, specify:    
    [email protected]

2. By credit card or Paypal via CanadaHelps 
When giving through CanadaHelps, keep in mind that a small portion (3%) of what you donate goes to CanadaHelps, in case you want to adjust your donations accordingly. Also, donations made to RCM via CanadaHelps are receipted directly by CanadaHelps (via e-mail); they are not included in your year-end tax receipt issued by RCM.
STEPS:
1. Visit our Donate page:  
    (https://www.royalcitymission.ca/donate.html)
2. Complete the Donation Details and Donor and Tax
    Receipt Information sections.
3. In the Payment Information section, click the preferred 
    payment option (credit card, PayPal, or gift card).
4. Complete the payment instructions depending on your 
    selection in the Payment Information section.
5. Click the “Complete Donation Now” button.

3. By Regular Cheque
To help with efforts to contain COVID-19, we are asking folks to consider giving through one of the electronic methods above. However if you have technology limitations and are not able to give this way, giving by means of a cheque is still an option for you.
STEPS:
1. Write out a cheque.
2. Mail it to: Royal City Mission

Or drop it off in the mail slot in the side door off of Quebec Street.
