Our New Name

Thank you so much for your patience and support as we have worked through renovations for the past several months. When our hardworking stove from the 1950s broke down we were faced with a choice: shut down our meal program or bring the entire kitchen up to code. We chose to continue serving meals and started the $230,000 kitchen renovation.

As the bones of our building were revealed, we began looking at the bones of our organization and realized that several areas needed to be updated, one being our name. For a long time, the names ‘Royal City Church’ and ‘the Life Centre’ have served us well. (RCEMC being the official charitable entity and The Life Centre being an operating name). However, we recognized that there was confusion around the names, not to mention extra costs involved in having both names (websites etc.).

As the kitchen underwent a transformation, we decided that it was time to transform our branding and take on a new name that encompasses the whole organization.

We are pleased to announce that Royal City Church and The Life Centre will be called Royal City Mission as of September 1, 2019.

We believe that this change will continue to help us live our values of: Relationship, Justice and Beauty in downtown Guelph.

Please join us on Tuesday, Sept 24th, 2019 from 2 - 4 pm for an open house to celebrate the changes, and to see the beautiful new kitchen. Look for an invite to this special day.
