Dear Community, Thank you for partnering with us to serve anyone in need in Downtown Guelph! We want to extend our deep gratitude to both the City of Guelph and the County of Wellington for providing funding that allowed Royal City Mission to provide additional Drop-In hours that helped alleviate some of the struggles that our community members face on a daily basis as they live through poverty, precarious housing, and disconnection. We’re especially grateful for the recent municipal funding from January to March of this year. This Winter would have been excruciating for our community members without Royal City Mission’s additional programming hours and services to meet the growing needs in our city. Many of our service partners express deep appreciation for Royal City Mission. They value not only our day-time shelter, which provides respite from the elements and nutritious meals, but also the opportunities we offer for their organizations to establish vital connections. These connections often lead to enhanced support and better health outcomes for those in need. I’m incredibly proud of what we accomplished together. With municipal funding ceasing at the end of March, Royal City Mission needs to make reductions in its services. However, we’re committed to providing a transition period with our current hours to minimize the impact on our community. Starting Sunday April 28, 2024, Royal City Mission will be scaling back our Drop-In program to five days a week, from 2pm to 7pm, and reducing on-site meals to suppers, served at 6pm. New Schedule Starting Sunday April 28, 2024 RCM Drop-In Meals On-site MON Closed Closed TUE Closed Closed WED 2pm to 7pm Supper - 6pm THR 2pm to 7pm Supper - 6pm FRI 2pm to 7pm Supper - 6pm SAT 2pm to 7pm Supper - 6pm SUN 2pm to 7pm Supper - 6pm Royal City Mission remains deeply committed to supporting our community and partnering to serve those in need in Downtown Guelph. While financial constraints limit our capacity to provide greater levels of needed programming, our new hours help cover some of the biggest gaps in services in our community. Thank you for your ongoing support, Kevin Coghill Executive Director & Lead Pastor Royal City Mission
To keep everyone safe, and to abide by our current in-person gathering limits, our Annual General Meeting for 2020 will be held via Zoom on Sunday April 11, 2021 at 12:00pm (noon). All are welcome to attend.
Please read this post in its entirety to ensure that you are aware of how the meeting will be conducted, how to vote, etc. Included are the agenda for the AGM, Financial Statements, Budget and the link to the Zoom meeting. Thank you for your understanding as we navigate these times. Guelph has moved back to Red (Control) in its Covid response which means that there is some allowance for congregations to gather for worship again. We will continue to broadcast our services on Facebook and we highly encourage that everyone stays home and participates in worship virtually and safely.
Those of you who are eager to gather in person are welcome to join us in our sanctuary on Sunday at 11 am with masks on. Please note that you can only be in the building for the duration of the worship service. Once the service is complete, please vacate the building immediately to comply with recent Covid protocols. I sit in a quiet space as I write...and yet I know in another hour we will be experiencing the daily whirlwind of life at Royal City Mission. While we love the life that our open hours bring, we also cherish the peace that down moments offer. Keeping people safe, warm and healthy is a high priority as we navigate the complexities of life in lockdown, while also caring for those in isolation and those experiencing homelessness. We keep our doors open because so many in our community have so many doors closed to them. Our staff and volunteers are incredible and adjust to the changing Covid regulations while still doing their best to care for individuals who have trouble following the guidelines. One way we are caring for those who have tested positive for Covid-19 and/or are isolating is by delivering meals to areas of high risk. For the next few weeks we will be delivering 30 meals/day to one such area. View this email in your browser
Yesterday morning, before the sun rose above the horizon, I took a walk along the river. With a hot cup of coffee in my hands I experienced the beauty of the city of Guelph. Even in the dim light, there were incredible colours. Mist rose off the water, creating a mystical scene. A blue heron shared a few minutes with me while I watched him watch me. UPDATED 11/10/2021 As a community we at the Royal City Mission, Drop In Centre, Hope House, Wyndham House and the Guelph Community Health Centre are combining resource efforts to meet the needs of vulnerable community members during our COVID-19 response. We are supported with funding from the County of Wellington and by generous members of our community.

We are looking forward to September but with all of the uncertainties related to Cover-19, planning is tentative at best and flexibility is essential. Here's a short list of things that we do know...
